Nom: Abbeville Département : Somme (80) Région : Picardie Après Guerre, Abbeville écrasée par les bombes incendiaires le 20 Mai 1940, a été reconstruite.L'inauguration du nouvel Hôtel de ville et du haut beffroi de style scandinave, le 9 Octobre 1960 marquait la fin de la reconstruction de la ville.  Le blason d'Abbeville: la devise "Fidelis" attribuée par Charles V le 19 Juin de l'année 1369 par lettres patentes pour remercier les Bourgeois d'Abbeville de leur fidélité à la couronne de France , les Anglais s'étant retirés grâce à leur appui, n'y figurait pas.  (Remerciements a la Mairie d'Abbeville) http://www.ville-abbeville.fr/

The inauguration of the new Ton Hall and of the tall Scandinavian-style belfry on October the 9th 1960 marked the end of the reconstruction of the city.  The Arms of Abbeville: the motto "Fidelis" which was awarded by Charles V on the 19th June 1369 through official letters to thank the Abbeville citizens for their fidelity to the Crown of France and their help in chasing the English out did not appear on the original.  (Courtesy of Abbeville Town Hall)
